National Park(ing) Day

The city of St. Louis announces it’s adoption of National Park(ing) Day on Friday September 21, 2007. This concept was invented by a collaborative group of designers called REBAR based in San Fransisco. National Park(ing) is being celebrated on Friday September 21st in 23 cities in the U.S. including St. Louis. Organizations and individuals are encouraged to adopt a parking space on Chestnut Street between Tucker and 17th Street by feeding the meter and installing a temporary park for the day. Some groups lay tarps, sod, and place some potted plants or trees and even a park bench. This event is sponsored by the Trust for Public Lands. Click the link for photos, videos, ideas, etc. If you have some spare time on Friday, you should spend your lunch break at one of these mini-parks. Pictures soon to come after Friday.
