Architecture for 5 cents.

John Morefield, a laid off architect founded Architecture 5 cents, a booth where he gives architectural advice and donates the change to a local food bank. In an article on archrecord.com, the comments seem to lie on the negative, stating that all he seems to be doing is devalueing our profession. He defends that he isn’t “selling” architecture for 5 cents, but is starting a conversation with a potential client by answering a simple question. It’s a way to get in touch with clients who think their project is too small or that they can’t afford professional consultation in their budget.

What do you think? Is this a brilliant idea for marketing yourself or are you no better than that two-bit whore on the corner? Place your vote on the right.
